Maybe you’re a resolution maker, maybe you’re not. Either way, the beginning of the new year is just that- a beginning. Which makes it an ideal time to reflect on the past and make goals for the future. We never want to become stagnant or resistant to change. Things happen everyday that we can’t control. Sometimes making a positive change in our lives gives us the willpower to manage the bad times and make the good times more frequent. Change helps make us flexible, smarter, and reminds us that anything is possible!
Here are some naturopathic- inspired tips for making this month the beginning of a more fulfilled 2016:
PRACTICE POSITIVE THOUGHTS: growing up has a way of replacing our carefree, contented minds with fear and faultfinding thoughts. Don’t worry, we can change our thought processes. But it takes practice and it starts with recognizing the negative pattern... ponder that, and check out this article!
DETOX- starting the year with a cleanse is a good idea for multiple reasons. First, in the month of December, you probably consumed more sweet treats and boozy drinks than your body appreciated. That’s ok; it’s hard to avoid it. If you begin the year with a detox, it will help you get back to the healthful habits that are the norm for you. It will also inspire you to eat more cleanly, hopefully curb that sugar craving you’ve developed and detoxify your cells!
MAKE SLEEP A PRIORITY- it is amazing that something so critical to our survival has become so unimportant in our busy lives. Making sleep a priority will make you healthier and happier, guaranteed!
GET MORE SUNSHINE – speaking of sleep, an article in U.S. News states that spending more time in the sunshine can improve sleep. It has also been shown to elevate your mood, protect you from autoimmune disease, and decrease your chances of developing alzheimers.. BONUS!
There’s many more tips I could have included, but with these kinds of life changes, it is better to start small and slow. Make attainable goals that you can continue to build on.
