VIDEO TRANSCRIPT:

Hey guys welcome to our video series on fasting. That word might scare you a little bit. I know it scares a lot of my patients when we first start talking about it, but I have found fasting to be an incredibly valuable tool—especially for my patients who are struggling with weight loss, struggling with diabetes, or insulin resistance, or PCOS. It's an incredible tool to help these folks get their metabolic regulation back under control, and I wanted to create some videos that share some of this information on “what is fasting?” and “how do I do it?”, and “how do we prepare to be successful?” and then “what are the other strategies we can implement along the way?” In this series of videos, I want to explain why do we even suggest fasting. Why I don't find it scary at all and why, in fact, I find it to be the opposite. Loading up on pharmaceutical medications should be much more scary.

[I will cover] who is right to fast, and how do we prepare to have an effective fast so that we can maybe even enjoy it, to reap the most benefits from it, and then I want to go into some of the different fasting strategies that are out there. A lot of people have heard about things like intermittent fasting or time restricted eating… we're gonna dive into that. We're gonna dive into some longer strategies such as 24 hours and 42 hours. I want to hit on five day fasting, fasting mimicking diets like prolon. Many of you who listen to any of my other fasting talks, have heard me talk about prolon. I found it a very useful tool for a lot of my patients as a way to easily jump into saying I want to do a fast: here's a box, here's a kit, follow the instructions, and boom we've done it! Last but not least, I want to dive into a little bit of the deeper fasts: three day fasting, five day fasting, and how to do that. What to be cognizant of when we're going go into for a deeper, longer fast.

So these series’ of videos is designed to watch one after the next, so that we can build on the information from before. With that, I'll encourage you to follow along. If you know you're already involved in fasting or you're kind of interested in learning some more, and want real life experiences, follow us on Facebook. We have a great fasting group, so if you go to @docderek - that is that is my facebook page, underneath that there's a sub group called Revive Your Health. In this group, we have a bunch of my patients, some family, and some friends who have done fasting themselves and share their experiences. That's what that particular group is for, and so with that we'll also be putting some content on Instagram so that you can follow along during these video series too, and the little pearls that we've pulled from these videos along the way.

So I hope this is some exciting information for you, and we also love feedback so if you love a video let me know what you liked about it! if we left something out that you thought was important—let me know. We'll make sure we get it in the second one and talk about it. If you have any questions, I'd love to answer them so make sure to reach out to us and leave some comments—we monitor that.

I look forward to sharing with you the next series of videos on how to be successful during a fast, how it can help you overcome some of your health challenges, whether that's low energy, struggling with weight loss, PCOS, insulin resistance, or diabetes—it's a valuable tool, and I’m looking forward to sharing with you what I've been able to learn from it. Thank you for watching!
